Karoo Online Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Karoo Holdings, Inc. and its affiliates ("Karoo," or "we") collect, use, share, and protect your personal information across www.karoo.loans, its subdomains, and any other online services we operate in the United States (the "online services"). It covers our products, social media interactions, emails, and advertisements — whether on our platforms or third-party ones.

By using our online services, you agree to the practices described here.

If you have a financial product with us, our U.S. Consumer Privacy Notice also applies and gives you additional choices about how we share your information.

We may update this policy at any time. Changes take effect when we update the "Effective Date" above.

What We Collect

Information you give us. When you request a loan offer, enquire about a loan, or contact support, you provide:

  • Name, address, phone, email, date of birth, Social Security number, and identity documents (driver's license, passport);
  • Credit history and scores from consumer reporting agencies;
  • Account and payment history;
  • Verification data from third-party partners;
  • Bank details — name, account numbers, credentials, transactions, assets, and expenses;
  • Employment and income — current job, offers, tax returns, W-2s, and pay stubs.

Information we collect automatically. When you visit, we record device information, IP address, browser type, pages viewed, clicks, referring URLs, and similar usage data. We may also collect your location from cellular networks, Wi-Fi, or browser services. We may later link this usage data to your personal information.

Information from other sources. We collect data from third parties — co-branded partners, credit bureaus, and commercial data providers — and may combine it with what we already have.

How We Use It

We use your information to:

  • Deliver our products and services and keep you informed about them;
  • Verify your identity and manage your preferences;
  • Provide support and respond to your requests;
  • Detect fraud, enforce our agreements, and meet legal obligations;
  • Fix bugs and improve our services;

Who We Share It With

Financial companies share customer information to run their business. Subject to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and other applicable law, we share your personal information with:

  • Service providers — for fraud prevention, loan servicing, collections, marketing, technology, and product development;
  • Credit bureaus — at your direction or as permitted by law;
  • Debt purchasers — if your loan is charged off;
  • Karoo affiliates — as permitted by law;
  • Co-branding partners;
  • Acquirers or successors — in a merger, acquisition, or transfer of our business, including back-up administrators; and
  • Law enforcement and courts — to comply with subpoenas, protect rights, or respond to emergencies.

We do not sell your personal information. We do allow third parties to collect data through our services for advertising and marketing across sites and devices. We may share deidentified or aggregated data with third parties. Deidentified data is not personal information.

Loan Allocation

If you accept a loan offer from a partner bank and sign your promissory note, your loan may be allocated as follows:

  • We may purchase it from the partner bank.
  • Investors may purchase it from us. We share your application data — identity, financial, and credit information, and loan terms — with investors and their agents before purchase.
  • As servicer, we share ongoing loan data (including repayments) with the Creditor, subsequent purchasers, and their agents.

Cookies

We and our partners use "Cookies" and similar tracking technologies for fraud prevention, analytics, and advertising. Cookies are small data files stored on your device that help us recognize you, remember your preferences, and understand how you use our services over time.

You can decline or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some features may not work. Blocking cookies does not stop all tracking. Your choices are browser- and device-specific.

Security

We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your information. We restrict access to Social Security numbers to authorized personnel with a legitimate business need. See our U.S. Consumer Privacy Notice for details.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. We cannot guarantee the security of data in transit.

If a breach compromises your information, we will investigate and notify affected individuals as required by law.

Retention

We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes described here, or as required by law.

Third-Party Websites

Our services may link to sites we do not control ("third-party websites"). Those sites have their own privacy practices. Review them before sharing your information. We are not responsible for third-party practices.

Your Choices

  • Access and Correction. You can update your information through your account, by calling 1 (650) 610-7620 (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM ET, Monday – Friday), or by emailing support@karoo.loans. We may retain backup copies as permitted by law.

  • Marketing Opt-Out. Follow the "unsubscribe" link in any marketing message, or write to the address in the Contact Us section.

  • Other Rights. Depending on applicable law, you may request anonymization, portability, or deletion of your data, or review of automated decisions. Write to the Contact Us address below. We will verify your identity before acting.

Children

Our services are not for anyone under 13. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it. Contact privacy@karoo.loans if you believe we have.
